Back in the days when I was a makeup artist a lot of my learning and best practice came from my clients. I worked with various skin types and face shapes, the more challenging it got for me the more fun I had in my job. I then went away for formulate my own brand of cosmetics and ironed out the problematic areas. One of the challenges I faced with various brands were blending the product so I ensured that this was not going to be the issue with the range, it had to glide on smoothly and almost look invisible yet on Fleek.
I’ve put together the top five tricks I think are crucial to achieving the most natural Kylie Jenner inspired contour look! Why not grab your makeup brushes and get started!
Tip #1) Prep with moisturiser — as part of your regular routine cleanse and tone your skin followed by appropriate moisturiser –this is the most important part. If your skin is not cleansed, toned and moisturized properly your makeup will not sit on well so you can send up with makeup creasing or rolling due to dryness.
Tip #2) Use a foundation brush and beauty blender — use your foundation brush and apply foundation by stippling it on to the skin, this helps the foundation to sit on the skin better. Use the small concealer brush on difficult to reach area’s . once you have a good coverage we then recommended using a beauty blender to create a flawless Finish
Tip #3) Setting foundation — This step is just as important as step 2 bit you need to ensure the foundation is set so that the product stays on your skin throughout the day and does not oxidise. We have a Dual powder which basically has dual effect – it acts as a powder to add extra coverage and is great for oily skin as well as setting the foundation on to the skin and creating a flawless finish. Use a face powder buff and press the powder on to face
Tip #4) Examine your face shape — Getting familiar with your face shape is a crucial step before starting to apply contour product. It’s important to know where you want to place your darker colors. For example: Forehead shape – If you have a large forehead in proportion to your face, you can go heavier with the Dark Define shades around your hairline but if you have smaller forehead, you shouldn’t contour too much around the hairline, as it will make your forehead appears small . Also, it is always better to try and feel your cheekbones than mapping them. Also, feel for your cheekbones instead of sucking in your cheeks. This will help you to know where to accurately place the darker tones.
Tip #5) Picking the correct color shades — Most people are under the assumption that you just pick out one of the light shades and one dark color to create a contour look, but we learned a good trick to select the correct shades. Figure out your exact face color and then select one product that is 3 shades lighter than that for the highlighting/enhancing portion of your contour and then select one product that is 3 shades darker for the defining portion of your look. To keep the look as natural as possible, select products that are light, so instead of using heavy concealer base to highlight we recommend you to use the powder form to create a more natural and subtle look – you can build it up if needed.
Tip #6) Dewy vs. Matte finish — A dewy finish will help create a more natural look, for all those individuals with oil skin fear not as Ashcosmetics range now have a exclusive moondust powder which is used as an illuminating powder to complete your look . This is a lightweight reflective powder suitable for all skin types, It has been recommended by our public figure Rumena begum so why not check it out!
